I started my affiliate marketing business fresh out of high school. I’d just graduated, about to start my freshman year at college, when I began looking for different ways to make money on the Internet. Everything I came across, all seemed like a complete scam, and to honest, at the time I did not have any money to risk. Luckily, I came across Affiliate Marketing. It certainly struck my interest as soon as I heard “make money while you sleep”. I mean, come on! That’s awesome! I had to check it out.

One thing I noticed many claim about affiliate marketing or any other way to make money online is that “anyone can do it”. In this case, the saying “the truth hurts” is completely appropriate. The truth does hurt because the truth is not everyone can make money online and that’s a fact. Now, is everyone capable of making money online? Definitely. But that doesn’t mean they will.

The ones who will make money online are the ones who have the Right Mindset. If you don’t have the right mindset or your not willing to change it, then you might as well forget about making money online because it’s not going to happen for you.

I don’t mean to be harsh about the subject, but it’s true and it’s better to learn this now then later. Don’t worry, the good news is that you can change it.

So how you get into the Right Mindset, which is the first step to affiliate marketing success or any Internet success.

The first thing you need to do is get rid of all the negativity in your mind. If you have any doubt that this who make money online isn’t going to work, you’re only setting yourself up for failure. Do whatever you need to do in order to get rid of the negativity. Even if the negativity is coming from friends and family. Forget them! You do not need them to tell you want you can and can’t do. However, you can use their negativity as motivation. Just think about what they’ll say when you prove them wrong, that you can and do make money online!

You need to believe in yourself. If you don’t have to confidence in yourself, why they heck should you expect to accomplish anything. Be confident!

The second step is to get focused. One of my biggest issue and I still like so today, so stay focused. If you’ve got a hundred things going on, you’re going to have a real tough time doing what you have to do to make money online. Do whatever you need to do in order to have most of your focus on the Internet. If you got a messy room, messy house, paper to write, exams to study for, kids to take care of, etc. Do them first! Do want you need to do first, then you can begin. If you have kids to take care, get going once they are asleep. If you have a room you need to clean, do it! You need to free yourself and your mind. Too many distractions will cause you to lose focus and you won’t get anywhere.

1. Self-Confidence
2. Determination and Perseverance
3. Creativity
4. The Need to Achieve

This is what the Right Mindset is in short. In order to be successful as an Affiliate Marketer (Yes, you’d be an entrepreneur), then you need to have confidence in yourself, you need to be determined to succeed, you need to have the need to achieve, and as much creativity as you can.

To sum it all up, the first step to affiliate marketing success is to have the right mindset. Throw out all the negativity and get confident in yourself, get rid of all distractions and focus on what you need to do.
